Say His Name to Remember: LCpl Edward Lynn Daubert

Edward, 20, a member of the 1st Marine Infantry Division, lost his life in the early morning hours of September 21, 1968. While on patrol in Quang Nam Province, he stepped on an explosive device that killed him almost instantly.

In February 1968, Edward was promoted to private first class, and, on April 1, he became a lance corporal. He was awarded a Marine "Sharpshooter" medal, the Vietnamese Service Medal, the Military Merit Medal, the National Defense Medal, the Purple Heart and the Marine Corps Certificate of Honorable Service.

The 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines was formed during World War II and has a storied history, with Company M being one of its key units. The battalion was activated for service in the Vietnam War, where it conducted various operations to engage enemy forces and support counterinsurgency efforts.

Throughout the Vietnam War, Company M participated in numerous operations, often involving heavy combat in challenging terrain. They were involved in significant campaigns such as Operation Allen Brook, Operation Medcalf, and various patrols and engagements in Quang Nam Province.
