Fred Robert Thorpe served his country during the Vietnam War, enlisting in the United States Army. He entered service through Regular Military enlistment and began his tour on November 24, 1968. Thorpe held the rank of Private First Class, with a military specialty as an electrician and he was assigned to the 213th Engineer Detachment.
