Serving during WW2 Douglas was stationed onboard the famed battleship USS Texas. Douglas made several trips across the Atlantic during the early war years. He would be promoted to chief and ended up serving on a LST (Landing Ship Tank) in the Pacific.
William served in the 9th Infantry Division during 1968.

Al served three tours in Vietnam in the 1st Cavalry Division and the 9th Infantry Division. He was a paratrooper, a Air Cushioned Vehicle operator and an engineer.
